Leth's Jazz with Mark Hurrell Quartet (UK/DK)

Mark Hurrell, originally from the UK and now based in Copenhagen, is an accomplished saxophonist, composer and bandleader who has built a solid reputation on the Nordic jazz scene. Mark Hurrell moved to Denmark in 2021 and has since performed across Europe with a brand of mixing different musical influences into a unique sound that captivates audiences. This spring he will embark on a new chapter when he releases his debut EP with a Scandinavian tour, culminating in a performance at Café Støj in Aarhus on March 13.

Formed in 2022, the Mark Hurrell Quartet is a dynamic ensemble known for its extraordinary musical synergy. The quartet consists of pianist Pasquale , bassist Philip Akrofi, and drummer Malte Wibell. Their strong connection and shared passion for jazz have shaped the group's sound, resulting in tight, electrifying performances that promise to leave audiences spellbound.

The concert at Café Støj will showcase original compositions that combine intricate jazz harmonies with energetic grooves, offering a fresh and exciting take on contemporary jazz. Katerina's skilled piano work, Philips' rich and virtuosic bass lines, and Malte's driving rhythms blend seamlessly with Mark's powerful saxophone, creating a sound that is both captivating and electric.
