With this concert, saxophonist and composer Mark Hurrell makes his debut from the soloist class at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus.
The concert marks the end of Hurrell's soloist studies at the conservatory with a very special double concert. The evening brings together the two projects that have defined Hurrell's years at the DJM in Aarhus.
The first set features Motuz Group – Hurrell’s interdisciplinary performing arts collective that fuses jazz, improvisation and dance in captivating performances. The group reimagines familiar songs through groundbreaking performance techniques, blurring the boundaries between the abstract and the concrete.
The second set marks the release of Hurrell's debut EP with his jazz quartet and a number of special guests. They play music from the EP as well as new, unreleased compositions - a personal snapshot of the work Hurrell has created in his final years of study.
This evening is both a celebration and a new beginning – where the two main tracks of Hurrell's artistic journey are intertwined into one event.
The concert is free, and you can just show up without a ticket. Arrive early.
